Words, Words and more Words

So many of us get lost in words. Words from professionals over our lives, words from the church (prophetic & Prayer) and words amongst our circle of family and friends. But do we really listen to what is being said.

Too often we go to a Doctors appointment and get told “the worse case scenario” When I was pregnant with all of my three children, I was told that I needed to have a Down syndrome blood test and ultrasound. My reaction was no, why? God has blessed us with this beautiful baby and we love the baby for who they are, I am not going to be forced into anything that isn’t of God. I remember when I found out that I was pregnant with Emily, the Doctor asked me if I wanted to keep the baby. I was horrified that this was the second sentence out of his mouth, after he said congratulations, you are pregnant. So, I left the appointment and broke of any words of rejection that were already spoken over our unborn child. We as parents must protect the little ones in our care, and break of the words spoken over them and ourselves. There is power in words.

There are also the words spoken over us in the prophetic. Again, we should never just accept what is spoken over us but to make sure that it lines up with your own spirit man. Thessalonians 5:21-22 teaches that it is the responsibility of every Christian to be discerning. “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every from of evil” The Apostle John issues a similar warning when he says, “Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1) According to the New Testament, discernment is not optional for the believer – it is REQUIRED.

These days, there are so many false prophets out there. I don’t know about you, but if it isn’t lining up with my spirit man, or what I am reading in the bible, or what I have been praying about, I am letting that word fall off. So little training is done in the prophetic, but there are three things we need to know.

The prophetic is about Edifying, Exhorting, and Comforting. If it isn’t, walk away.

It is so very important in todays society that we are careful what we say, whether it is about ourselves, our neighbours and even our families, we must be careful about the words spoken over us. We have to use discernment. A restoration minister that we used to see had this amazing saying “If we give Satan an inch, he will take a MILE” so if we speak words out at our family in anger, who do you think is waiting in the wings to take advantage?

It is time to take control, step up and say NO! I do not receive those words from the Doctor. NO! I won’t allow man to talk down my God, HE is bigger than them. Break them off in the name of Jesus, your call is too important to lie down and accept the negative and soul-destroying words of the enemy. So, raise up, take that sword and break it off. Break off the words controlling your life, the words that are not of God. The words spoken by false prophets.

Stand Up!!! Stand Up for Jesus!!! Take life!!

God Bless, Ruth x x
